I was a guest at my friends wedding on July 30th, 2011. I know his fiance` worked very hard on every detail of this wedding. Having worked in the industry a number of years herself. The venue, Old Clayburn Schoolhouse, was beautiful. The girls and family that the bride had decorating, did an amazing job of the hall.
However, I was surprised when I sat at my seat to have a placemat in front of me. As well as white paper napkins. They don't even use placemats in Denny's anymore. I had a blue cloth napkin, which was a nice detail. All the chairs had chair covers and satin ties. The small details that the bride had agonized over were beautiful. The bride had worked on such details as matchboxes, personalized wine bottles, a history of Old Clayburn town at each table. She even made Taxi cards! All this was nearly ruined by the tackiness of what the catering company added.
The food was overcooked and served by staff in polo shirts? I was looking forward to a nice med-rare piece of roast beef, but found it completely dried out with no taste. The caesar salad was limp. Coffee was being served before all the tables had even gotten their food yet. How embarrassing. Kudo's on the salmon, it was the only good thing on the table. This was a wedding. The catering staff didn't reflect that.
I would refer Klassic Catering for an outdoor BBQ or a small event, but never a wedding.
After talking to the bride and groom, I found out that the bride had specifically said NO PLACEMATS. Why a placemat is even an option or a question for any event is so lost on me. Then to purposely go against her wishes? The groom shared with me how much per plate. For that price it should have been a hell of a lot better, and there should have been service provided by the catering staff. Here's a tip Klassic; A bride Never gets her own food. Sorry Klassic, you failed at this event
